Shaping the Single Market with the focus on digitalisation and consumer rights

In post-Brexit period, climate change, digital revolution and their social impacts should be in the main focus of the European Union. Though a well-functioning Single Market is crucial for Luxembourg – as we have a relatively small own market –, I also focus on the completion of the Digital Single Market (DSM). DSM is one in which the free movement of persons, services and capital is ensured and where the individuals and businesses can seamlessly access and engage in online activities under conditions of fair competition, and a high level of consumer and personal data protection, irrespective of their nationality or place of residence. Consumer protection is also a priority topic, but not just in my direct work at IMCO Committee, but also when I monitor EU policy areas with direct effect on the rights of European consumers, such as public services, banking, communications energy or passenger right.
